Onion soup

Would love a great Onion Soup, as it is cold and rainy in Paris..
Would be helpful, if it is within walking distance from Opera.
Will travel if necessary.
I will also post reviews from Lyon later this week.
Loved Le Bec.
My new favourite!
Very very disappointed by Leon de Lyon.

Looking forward to your Lyon reviews. Have you checked Le Café de la Paix et Le Café des capucines in the Opera area? Le Petit Riche? I second le Pied de Cochon -- touristy is not always bad. See La Rotonde in Montparnasse for a very big brasserie with great food.

Onion soup is a late night dish, so you need to adress restaurants that are open late and next to theatres -- that's a typical after show course. That's why they call it a suppper.

Can't believe that I have not checked out Cafe de la Paix late menu, as we are staying at the Grand-Intercontinental.
However, le Pied de Cochon sounds like it is worth a try.
      Thanks to both for suggestions

Café de la paix is good.

For some reason gets a touristy response here, but the best l have had here was at Au Pied de Cochon, and if you have not been there it is a great experience regardless. On Rue Coquillière near St; Eustache

If you go to Au Pied de Cochon, please avoid the actual Pied de Cochon. It is less than stellra.
