Cheapest tasty meat in southern Ontario?

st_claire Sep 17, 2007 05:18 PM

Just wondering what people think is the cheapest place to get meat in or near Toronto, while still getting something tasty?

I'm willing to buy in bulk, around 10 - 20 lbs at a time. I've been using Witteveen. They have tasty beef, great prices, and good service. But they don't have much beyond pork, beef, and chicken. I'm looking for things like lamb and turkey also. I'm also interested in good prices on exotic meats, but not in bulk for those.

Thanks very much!

Look for a "kill and cut" place - an abattoir.

Local producers process their livestock in them and you will find available whatever is grown locally. As small operators they can supply exactly what you request in terms of beast, packaging, cut and selection. We used to order from Beeton Meats in Beeton Ontario and were always well satisfied.

Is it Beeton Meats who's slogan is "You can't beat our meat"?

      That always made me laugh.
