Babbo was fantastic, but looking for something a little less expensive & more laid back... nice atmosphere & great food.
Neighborhood not important... although downtown is better.
Try Assenzio on East 4th Street. very good food, cozy and excellent service.
Crispo, Apizz, Peasant
LaVagna also has an amazing wine list. It is tiny (intimate and dark), so reservations are a must. I still remember a cold sardine and orange vinaigrette app we had there. Simple, limited menu but very nice.
