Grandaisy Bakery - W72 & Brdwy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's right, kids. There's a Grandaisy Bakery sign on the former Creamlita location next door from Gray's Papaya. I stood there with my mouth open looking stupid for about 3 minutes until I composed myself. I actually thought I was dreaming.

For those of you fellow Westsiders who have chatted with me about Sullivan St. Bakery/Grandaisy over the past year, this is a very special day for us. Yup, yup, yup.
No more shlepping down to 11 Ave and W47 in the freezing cold nor down to the Village JUST FOR BREAD!!!

I'm just dancing in my seat over here. Now watch someone come around and tell me that it's not Grandaisy... that the real Grandaisy has a hyphen... or that they aren't planning to sell pizza bianca or the sesame loaf... just coffee with a blueberry muffin.

Between this and rumors of Magnolia opening on Columbus near W70, we're gonna be okay up here. THe neglected UWSers are gonna be okay.

  1. Your post had me chuckling. I passed by the same sign yesterday during a lovely stroll out and when I saw the sign, started doing the most awkward (but ebullient) impromptu jig.

You're right. We're starting on a road to okay!

They should plant a camera out there to capture people's reactions to the sign.
By tomorrow, I will contact their downtown location to obtain additional details and post them here unless someone beats me to sharing the inside info.
