And the award for Best Lobster Bisque goes to...

Bar Hayama... (The previous owner of this honor was Hotel Bel Air.)

We went to Bar Hayama last Friday night for the first time - it's a very handsome space, very well-proportioned. Definitely a step up in the decor from Sushi Sasabune (the previous occupant). The firepit on the patio is cozy and inviting.

But on to the lobster bisque... Wow! Just the right consistency and flavor. And HUGE pieces of lobster tail. Deelish. Service was polite and attentive. The joint was jumpin' by 7:30PM - a good sign.

The rest of the menu was quite good as well. We'll be back!

  1. I love lobster bisque and this seems to be close to me. I'll check it out. Thanks!

    1. What were the prices like? I drive by and really want to try it. "a step up from Sasabune"? Sasabune had the worst decor in relation to the price of any restaurant I can think of. I liked the sushi, but the tables were wobbly and it had the decor of a tacky Mexican restaurant (which I believe it was before).

I really like Lobster Bisque, but I rarely see it on the menu. I remember ordering it when I was a kid at Hamburger Hamlet. At the time I thought I was really classy.
