Ethos v. Pylos...which one?

Both look great, but can choose only one. Which should it be? thanks for help

Pylos if you want a nice room, great ambience and a more upscale menu. Their wine list is really good. Ethos is a good neighborhood option depending on where you're located-- and their fish beats Pylos hands-down. Also, Ethos has better grilled halloumi cheese and saganaki, and their taromosalata is mroe tasty. I've always had more pleasant (albeit more casual) service at Ethos, as well.

Thanks guys....guess it is Pylos for us. Bringing my 15 year old daughter for our third Broadway tour and she has an adventuresome palate. Taking her to Keen's (for me) and will do Sarabeth's for Sunday and perhaps Marseillase. She wanted to do a Greek place and I concurred.. It is my favorite cuisine. We look forward to it.

Can I recommend that you do somewhere besides Sarabeth's? I know it has a reputation, but it's just not all that good. In fact, it's pretty lousy. I have been there many, many times over the past six years, and my meals there have not once been memorable. If you're dead-set on UWS brunch, go to Good Enough to Eat (83 and Bway) instead. It's not the best brunch I've had, but it's definitely the best of that ilk on the UWS. Or try Barney's Greengrass. That place is great and their sturgeon is famous. And actually, while I'm at it, I'm also a huge fan of Alice's Tea Cup (73 and Columbus). Their scones are out of this world (esp. pumpkin) and come with homemade clotted cream. Their clueberry cornmeal pancakes are also memorable. cheers!

I like both, but I'll have to go w/the majority on Pylos. Room is more attractive and food is more creative.

Pylos, Pylos, Pylos. The atmosphere is fantastic, and everything i've had is excellent. Get the Poikilia, the Saganaki, the Lamb and the Ouzo Shrimp. Yum. They don't deliver though, just pick-up.

Ethos is kind of like an overpriced Greek diner... I'm not a fan.

echo the sentiment on pylos. I've had two great meals there. The tzaganaki is excellent, love their bass, and there's a dessert of triangular filo dough pastries whose name escapes me...very tasty.

I've only had delivery from Ethos, but I'd give the slight edge to Pylos. Either way, you really can't go wrong, foodwise. Ethos has the better grilled fishes (and more fishes options) while Pylos has the edge with the non-fish dishes.

I have been to Pylos and it does has a great atmosphere - great for a date or dinner with some friends. Definitely order the meatballs at Pylos.

Or, you could just visit both and compare them yourself!

Same here. Pylos rocks, though...the meals there are always perfect from start to finish.
