Good Food Near Columbia

I am moving to W 114th st and amsterdam tomorrow and would like recommendations for any good food anyone may know of near there. cheap and delicious is what I like but I am willing to pay a little more if the food is superb. I am looking for recs for breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour and maybe fun bars. thank you for your help.

You might also take a gander at Kitchenette, Thai Market, A, Miss Mamie's Spoonbread, and many more places I've written up on my website:

("Add a location" isn't working properly, or I'd post the addresses here.) Be sure to stop by the Thursday-Saturday greenmarket at Broadway and 114th, too.

Or you could go to the one on 97th & Columbus on Fridays, if that works for you. It's a good one.

Taqueria y Fonda Mexicana on Amsterdam between 107th and 108th makes some pretty damn authentic mexican specialties. Try whatever sounds interesting (or whatever the local spanish-speaking clientèle seem to be going after), but don't expect a California-style burrito because you're not in Chipotle anymore Dorothy.

I would recommend Pisticci (LaSalle, just west of Bway) for really good Italian in a charming little setting. For pastries and such, definitely the Hungarian Pastry Shop (across from St. John the Divine, on Amstdm, maybe 111th) and for croissants, Silver Moon Bakery on Bway at about 105th. Just down from the Hungarian Pastry Shop, is V&T, a standby pizza/red sauce/old style Italian. It's pretty good and fairly inexpensive. There's a good Korean place on Bway at about 114th-ish (just south of the Columbia gates but opposite side of the street). They do a terrific steaming bowl. For bbq, DH and I love Dinosaur (near uptown Fairway, maybe 12th Ave and 130th-ish). I think the sides are terrific and DH is addicted to the pulled pork. We also like (but not as much) Rack & Soul on 109th & Bway, especially the red velvet cake. I only went once but liked Lime Leaf (Bway & 108th) for Thai. And I love Awash for Ethiopian (Amstm at 107th-ish).

I hope that helps get you started.

Well for one thing, you might want to try Zeytin at 85th & Columbus, a wonderful Turkish/Mediterranean place with outdoor seating, delicious food, decent prices and friendly wait staff. Neat looking bar too.

sounds like a good option that we'll definitely check out if we're down around that area. I was hoping to find places a little closer to home base though. Thanks for your feedback!
