Chinese Vegetarian sources?

I'm a fan of Chinese Vegetarian takeout and have been buying it at various locations over the years. Never sure where it is made as I often suspect they are not made on premise. I've bought recently from T&T in Markham (prepackaged, not from the week-end on-site vendors) and find it OK, but I thought I had discovered a much better place in the Market Village "Snack Stop" about 6 months ago. Yesterday, I got some from that same place and was severely disappointed...too salty and something off with the oil...I will be throwing it out. So what's the scoop here? Oh, years ago I took out from a Vegetarian restaurant on Midland near Passmore and I remember it was OK too.

  1. Buddhist Kitchen (Midland north of Finch) is still the best in town for me. Been trying to find it's better for years.

I googled Lotus Pond and I believe it is the same restaurant I identified as located near Passmore on Midland. As mentioned, I thought it was OK. Thx for your makes me think that I'm narrowing down my search.

            1) 668 CAFE (MOVE BUT ON DUNDAS)
            2) Gourmet Veg rest. (west beaver creek) (they are not vegan but you can request no egg)
            3) Sam's wok

    2. As far as downtown TO goes, I would definitely suggest Buddha's on Dundas near Bathurst.

Granted, the service and decor both leave something to be desired, but their mock duck (fried bean curd skin) is downright addictive, and I also give a big thumbs-up to their singapore noodles and their hot and sour soup.

There's a little family restaurant on Dundas and Ossington called Dong Hai which serves both vegetarian and meat dishes. My friend recommended me to go and try their vegetarian "Bun Bi" and it was definitely two thumbs up. The price is very reasonable and the service is awesome. I go by once every two weeks and it's never a disappointment!

Mock duck is best at Lotus Pond - the one you mentioned on Midland and Passmore. We are addicted to the duck there... ask them to give you more sauce on it so it's all soaked through.... mmm.. yummy sauce.

we have been going to lotus pond for 15 years now....and often go there to pick it up (even though its a good 20 minutes from our house, each way). The food is never disappointing...we now have our regular favorite dishes and order them consistentely.

              must agree with Lotus Pond.
Have been going there as well for fifteen years or more, and it is always a great experience.
Once took a vegan friend from the U.S. and she wouldn't eat the chicken after the first bite, because it was too meaty, and she felt uncomfortable!
