Does anyone know of any good bakeries in Ottawa that make good, classy birthday cakes (not DQ-style 2 inch icing-covered diabetes-inducing cakes)?? I am thinking along the line of more Hong Kong-styled or Senses-styled ones... please help! Thanks so much!!!

The French Baker used to take special requests if you ordered enough in advance, but it was at the pastry chef's discretion whether to accept, so I don't know if they still do it. Worth a shot, though.

not sure what hong kong styled cakes are, but st. honere in chinatown (on booth st) makes cakes. 3 bakers and a bike on wellington, or the second ave bakery in the glebe are all good bets.

I'm not familiar with Hong Kong style cakes either, but Thyme and Again on Wellington makes AMAZING cakes. http://www.thymeandagaincatering.com/

For HK style cakes, we would usually order it from St. Honore.
