Truffles in Baltimore

I've just moved into the Baltimore area and I've been trying to figure out if there are any grocery stores that offer truffles (and/or truffle butter.) I'm just sort of getting into more gourmet foods and was looking to find the sort of store higher-end restaurants do their shopping at. Thanks!

  1. Assuming that you are referring to mushrooms rather than chocolates, you can find them at Wegman's in Hunt Valley.

Unfortunately, Wegman's hasn't stocked them lately and, when they did have them a while back, they were Burgundy truffles which weren't all that special. When they first opened, they had very nice black truffles, but no more.

You assumed correctly. I'm just back from visiting there. They indeed had truffles, as well as truffle oil and butter. Thanks a bunch!

Wow, great news. What kind were they?

      2. Look for Balduccis in your area. They're in the MontCo Maryland so perhaps you've got them there too. The one near me offers black AND white. (at the time)

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately there aren't any up here, but fortunately I'm going down to Bethesda next weekend for a wedding, so I'll have to check it out then.

        2. Whole Foods on Fleet St (Harbor East) sells truffle butter as well as whole black truffles in jars.

          1. If youa re into truffles also make the point to grab some Truffle cheese at whole foods. Sometimes they carry this ash coated cheese with truffle inside to die for. Also, online from DiBruno Bros in Philly you can purchase truffle honey which is another fabulous condiment for cheese and breads or over pears etc.... YUM
            Welcome to Bmore area.
