Has anyone tried Morris East in Halifax yet?

My SO and I stopped by there for dinner on the way home from work today (a rainy Saturday) and were really pleasantly surprised by what they have on offer. They are an upscale pizza restaurant with a wood fired oven that opened in the last month or so. The food was amazing. We had the "dip of the day" which was carmelized onion and a salad as appetizers and two pizzas (they are 11 inch individual pizzas): pepperoni and pepperoncini - spicy peppers and pepperoni - and peach, proscuitto, goat cheese.

Great atmosphere - they've really done the interior up nicely: big windows, lots of light, exposed brick interior. I'll definitely be back. Came to about $50, tax and tip included for the above mentioned and a glass of wine.

    1. Absolutely have to agree! My bf and I went last night (sunday) for dinner and we were very impressed. The service was wonderful, very prompt and very friendly. We had to wait just a few minutes while a table was cleared and reset as it was quite full when we arrived. I was very impressed with the decor, the space is small but it very well organised so I did not feel cramped even though we were at a table in the back.

      We shared two pizzas, peach, prosciutto and chevre and a roasted pepper, spicy sausage and caramelized onion pizza. The left overs today were as tasty as the first bite last night! Crust was nice and crispy and the toppings were obviously fresh and the cheese was very high quality. Had the flourless chocolate hazelnut torte for dessert which was incredible indulgent, rich and wonderful and served with a nice dollop of whipped cream.

      Dinner for two with two glasses of wine with tax and tip came to $55. Very reasonable! I'm so excited to see this restaurant open and I'll be sure to return. Every report I've heard so far has been very positive so I hope they succeed!

        1. Back to Morris East this weekend - probably my third or forth visit at this point, and it continues to impress. I love the changing menu (monthly I believe?) - this time I had a roasted veggie with goat cheese pizza. Beautiful flavours and rich creamy cheese.

          What really prompted me to add this post though was our dessert - they make smores in the woodfired oven! Homemade marshmallow and biscuit with melted chocolate - delicious. We shared ours, which I think might be a good suggestion - it's incredibly rich.

          1. Daughter who is resident in Halifax, is very fond of this place. She has gluten allergies and they have a crust for her...she and her boyfriend have been every weekend since they opened. I get to go there as her guest when I go east for Christmas!
