Good Eats w/in 15 miles of Laveen, AZ

Please refer to "Is there life in Laveen?" thread. I and others have listed down decent venues in or near Laveen, but I would like to get more feedback. So please read thread :)

We can even stretch it to 20 miles, if that'll help!! LOL

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure I understand the query. Within 15 miles of Laveen includes central Phoenix out to 7th St and Camelback, all of south and downtown Phoenix, pretty much all of Tempe and Guadalupe, bits of Chandler, most of western Phoenix, and parts of Glendale.

Extending to 20 miles would pull in west Mesa, a bit more of Chandler, south Scottsdale, Sunnyslope, NW Phoenix, all (?) of Glendale, and parts of Peoria.

As you might imagine, the list of Chow-worthy destinations that lie within those areas is quite lengthy. Were you perhaps interested in a more geographically-focused list, such as one falling within the box defined by 91st Ave, I-10 (or a parallel arterial like McDowell or Indian School), 48th St, and Dobbins/Baseline? Or maybe a list defined by driving times rather than roadway miles?

I suppose 20 miles is too extensive. Since there are numerous threads on downtown PHX eats, it'll suffice to narrow lists down to within 10 miles of cental Laveen (51st ave/Baseline).

Thank you all for your input!!

      Welllllllllllll

I used to visit my married friends in Laveen a lot, and they are 18-20 minutes from my place so that opens up some CHOWHOUND faves!

      Pizzeria Bianco
      Quiessence
      Durant's
      Amano Pizza Bistro
      Circa 1900

      Just to name a few

Yes! I don't mind living in Laveen as it is only 10 miles from downtown PHX. I hope all the new construction in the neighborhood will attract more local dining venues, rather than more of the chains that we already have in place.

I guess I don't really know what constitutes Laveen, or where its borders are. Generally, I am guessing it is the South Mountain area --? Is it incorporated?

Most of Laveen is actually part of Phoenix due to annexation. It's the portion of the city west of 27th Ave and south of the Salt River. I would consider 51st Ave & Baseline to be the heart of Laveen. It is near the west end of South Mountain Park.

My impression is that it's too newly settled to have much beyond chain restaurants.
