Watering Hole without a TV -- too much to ask??

Hello -

My husband and I have just moved to the area and are in search of a bar WITHOUT a plasma TV. I realize that Chicago is a huge sports town, but is it too much to ask to have a decent bar without a TV? We're not looking for a lounge or a club, but just a nice bar without a TV? A new bar opened, Paramount Room (www.paramountroom.com), that looked like had potential, BUT IT HAS TVs!! Please help!

Right down the street from Simon, Hopleaf has a tremendous beer selection and no tvs (at least from what I recall). Their mussels are also amazing.

Simon's in Andersonville - there's a little tv up in the corner, generally muted, usually playing some random movie on cable.

On Clark just north of Foster.

Celtic Crossings in river north. No TV, but a good laid-back jukebox (no 50 Cent or Pussycat Dolls), friendly owner/op bartenders. Not just another cheesy Irish bar. Good place to just talk and drink.

Up in Lakeview, the Duke of Perth. Reviews emphasize the food, which is good. But it's a nice bar atmosphere.

Try Bluebird in Bucktown- no TV, nice atmosphere, little bar atmosphere, little up scale atmosphere, and great beer and wine list.
