Pho Hoa 4?
Made a quick stop at PH4 (N. Quincy) last night for dinner. They have a long way to go. Impossible to communicate with the staff that seems to have very little experience. Decor is non-existant.
Food was fair to good. They have plenty of business. Maybe because it's new. No liquor licence. I might go back, but not in a big hurry.
Cocodan P.S. Hope I didn't blow it for you Pegmeister! Ha!

Went there last night. It was ok. Ordered Pho Xe Lua. Also tried app of "bo la lot" , grilled beef wrapped in mint leaf, which was fantastic. I noticed that some of the workers were from the dorchester location, which I also noticed the Dorchester location has become pretty slow. Probably due to same amount of workers staffing 2 places.
May be tough to communicate with the staff because they dont speak english very well, which usually isn't a problem for them as most of the clients are vietnamese.
My wife is vietnamese so she translates for me :)
Give it more time, this will be a fantastic place. They are working out the kinks.

Did take out from there on the weekend for lunch. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue (spicy noodle soup with pigs feet), which was tasty, but no where as spicy as I like it and as I've seen elsewhere. Would give them another shot, and the location is so convenient since they are walkable for me, but so far I can't say I would recommend them over other Vietnamese places based on food alone.
Interesting that my parents (who speak only Chinese) had difficulty ordering and were disappointed that the staff didn't understand them. I guess we take for granted that so many staff at the other Vietnamese places tend to have some understanding of Cantonese.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll hold off on trying it for a bit, and obviously take-out probably won't work!

Pho Hoa Quincy is going to take about 2 months to get running somewhat smoothly. Pho should be pretty good. I would stay away from the stir-fry items. Decor will also get there as the restaurant opening was fairly rushed. There should be a minor remodelling in about 3-4 months (mostly storefront). I'd definately give this place a couple months if first impressions are big. =)

Went to Pho Hoa Quincy last month, and the food was delicious. It was our first time being in a Vietnamese Restaurant (one of my other friends recommended it) so we don't know what the food is like or what the menu says. (Maybe we look lost or confused or however we look like) one of the waitress came over and asked if we need any help and she helped us ALOT (my waitress doesn't seem to have difficulty speaking english though). She explained every thing, and also give some great recommendations. And we have to say the service was very good and the app. and the food on the dinner menu was delicious. It was a great experience. Went there again last weekend, i have to say the service have gotten better, and the waitress actually remember me, and the stir-fry food, and the rice plates are still delicious as usual. This place's new, yet it's going to improve a whole lot overtime.

I was devoted to the Dot Ave Pho Hoa for a decade, but I've gradually switched my allegiance to Pho So, in Field's Corner. The food seems fresher, it's less hectic, and it has a more traditional family-run business feel -- they recognize me, they are kind to me (returning the books I've left behind, telling me to sit away from the door when it's cold), and they indulge my questions about the food, and care if I like it. I ate at the Quincy Pho Hoa two months ago and found it amusing that the service was even worse than the Dot Ave. one -- never rude, just confused and slow, with the staff clumped together in a giggling mass by the kitchen door. It never occurred to me to think of this as a language barrier -- this is typical service by any place staffed with people under 25! Of course they'd rather flirt and text each other than make me a decent salty limeaide! I was exactly that sort of mediocre waittress once upon a time. I'm sure things will tighten up at the Quincy location, and I'll go again when I'm nearby and hungry.

Is this the place on Hancock near Quincy Dynasty?

Yes, right on the corner of Hancock. It always looks busy, and I'm only minutes away and I still haven't stopped in.
