What're your favorite Seattle restaurants?
I moved to Seattle from Louisiana two years ago, and have since then ate at some fantastic restaurants. I'm a 21 year-old full-time college student, so I can't quite afford the classier places in town so you'll notice a focus on price, but wanted to share a couple gems and hear what your favorites are, regardless of price. I decided to break this up into category winners -- without any particular rhyme or reason to the chosen categories.
-- Best Thai --
Name: Thai One On
Place: 12343 Lake City Way Ne
Words: Amazing Pud Thai. Seattle has a ton of Thai places, but this one is worth seeking out. They deliver orders over $20 nearby, but it's worth dining in. Great service, great decor, with a very well-stocked bar compared to similar restaurants. $8 for dinner Pud Thai (lunch is $1 cheaper, but slightly smaller). Also try their Thai iced coffee. They're open until 10:30 most nights.
-- Best Late Night Eats --
Name: Paul's Italian Kitchen
Place: 4333 University Way NE (inside Earl's on The Ave bar, must be 21)
Words: A hidden gem for anyone on a budget, especially us UW students. Good food at amazing prices, at nearly any hour. For, you can get fries and a burger for $3. That's not a typo, $3.00 gets you a nice sized burger and a good bit of fries. At dinner that price jumps to a mere $4. Amazing lasagna for $7, large pepperoni pizza (easily feeds 2) for $8. There's a daily special with a $5 entree and $3 appetizer, which ranges from chicken parmesan to Philly cheese steak, it's all pretty good. Just keep the price in mind and don't expect anything groundbreaking. Open until 2:00am seven days a week. The bar isn't classy, so I'd recommend calling your order in, or have it delivered (free on orders over $10).
-- Best Seattle Burger --
Name: Red Mill
Place: 312 N 67th St (they also have an Interbay location)
Words: Delicious burgers, nice atmosphere, from what I understand it's a Seattle classic, but I've yet to meet anybody who's been there (other than the people I've brought). The prices are what you'd expect from a burger joint, I usually end up spending about $10 per person. If you go around meal time, whether lunch or dinner, expect a line. I'm unsure of the hours, but this is the type of place I'd expect to close pretty early.
