Rack of lamb in Los Angeles
Looking for the best rack of lamb that can be had in L.A., but I don't want to spend oodles of money. I had the R o' L at Baran, the Persian place on Westwood Blvd. several months ago. I usually prefer lamb shank at Persian restaurants but this rack was amazing, even though it was slightly more cooked than I normally like. I would definitely go back to Baran, but... I'm losing focus here.
So, any suggestions would be much appreciated. I am taking a friend who normally does not eat red meat but has decided to give it a try so that he can finally experience the magic that occurs after a bite of lamb with a sip of red wine.

My two favorite renditions of lamb come from opposite ends of the budget spectrum. One is Grace, the other is Shamshiri.

If you get lucky, you can go to Angelini Osteria on a day when they have Sonoma baby lamb cooked in the wood-fired oven. You get beautiful chops and delicate sliced lamb in a wonderful sauce, with pureed potatoes.

if you were willing to spend "oodles of money", the best rack is (imho) at papadakis taverna in san pedro. just keep in mind that you're paying for the venue, the atmosphere and the entertainment as well as the food.
