<content>Had lunch today at Turtle Tower - after reading many enthusiastic reports I had the Pho Ga (chicken soup) .... the broth had a depth of flavor that is unusual .... it's a pretty pure flavor, relatively unadorned by other flavors. The noodles were tender and plentiful. Shredded chicken, green onions and cilantro are scattered on the top. A very satisfying bowl indeed.
I also tried a bit of the broth from a bowl of pho with rare beef - have to admit that I prefer a richer broth with the hints of star anise and all the basil, sprouts, etc...sorry that the image isn't sharper - I was impatient and the steam softened the focus a bit :~ )

<content>It's delicious AND a great price. It looks like you may have gotten the small ($4.60) the large is $5.25

<content>No worries, the steam makes it all the more ethereal and dreamlike. Mmmmm...Turtle Tower. I might have to go for lunch tomorrow.

In any case, try blowing the steam away while you take pictures. It takes a little concentration but works unless there's tons of steam (usually only a problem if something is still on the stove).</content>

<content>You are too funny...blowing away the steam as you point and shoot. I find that lowering the camera to angle across instead of down avoids the steam and makes for a more drool-worthy shot. Even better if you can catch the steam wisping up...

Pho ga looks good, Gordon. Just what I'm craving w/ this rainy weather. I'll have to keep Turtle Tower in mind when I'm in SF.

Have you tried Hung Ky's pho ga (photo below)? The chicken is wonderful, but I didn't get a good sample of the broth to make an adequate assessment. All the more reason to return! Plus you can order the one w/ unborn egg, if you're so inclined.
