Taco Truck, Where are you???
So I've heard about the 96th street and Broadway taco truck, "Super Tacos" (I think it's called). I tried for the second time to schlep my way up there for lunch today only to find no truck in sight. Again!
I only have an hour lunch. On my first trip I headed from Central Park West, over to Broadway, and took the 1 to 96th. Taking me just about 20 minutes. I looked up and down the block and the side streets. Nothing. I ended up taking some mediocre street cart food back with me.
I waited a month and decided to give it another shot today with the same result. This time I was so bummed I didn't even hit up the halal cart..... sadness.
Super Taco, why have you forsaken me!?!?

I don't think it's ever there in the daytime. It's a nighttime thing. I'm not sure when it arrives (maybe after the parking meters are over?). But it's always there late nights especially. It gets parked on 96th Street (south side) just west of Broadway. If you are there in the evening, just follow your nose -- the smell even permeates the 96th St. subway station. Amazing.

The truck arrives around 6 p.m. daily and stays open until the wee hours. But, alas, no lunchtime services.

I am a big fan of SuperTacos, but "the smell permeates the 96th St. subway station?" I don't think so.

Sure it does. Countless times we're coming home from Shea on a Saturday night around midnight and we can smell the taco truck before we even exit the station -- and DH says "mmmm, tacos, let's stop", invariably, every time. And we often do. Okay, maybe not the *entire* station, but certainly on that western side.

Seems a shame that you would bypass the many great taco places between Shea and Manhattan to settle for the tacos there.

I am so always saying that (especially after reading these boards). And DH says he's not hungry. But then he gets that taco truck smell and changes his mind. Go figure! :)

Have you tried Caridad 78? They are pretty cheap and not bad for chino-latino. DH loves their ropa vieja.
