Is Village Fish closed? I tried to call and their number was discontinued. If it is, is there any good fish or italian place close by?

They moved to Needham. There's a reference to it elsewhere on this board. For Italian, try next door, Pomodoro. Many references on this board.

Another Italian option is La Morra just down the street on Boyston/Route9

pomodoro doesn't hold a candle to La Morra and isn't as good as Carlos Cucina or Trattoria di Toscana, both of which are less expensive. the pomodoro in the north end is far better than the brookline version.

I have been wanting to try Carols Cucina, is it true the wait is usually hours long. Any suggestions on when to go (day of week or time)?

Even at peak times, I've never waited more than about 40 minutes for a table at Carlo's. They have a little downstairs waiting area now, which helps a bit in bad weather. I've also spent some waiting time at nearby saloons, like the White Horse Tavern or the Common Ground.

Maybe the wait is worse at prime-time on weekends.

If you go on a weekday before 6:30 - there is usually no wait. Avoid Sundays. We've been going there for years and it never disappoints.
