Birthday dinner in Manhattan

Any recs on a restaurant to take my husband for his birthday? I am treating, so preferably not Masa, but somewhere nice and no steakhouses - did that for Father's Day.

Open to places that are really good and not necessarily just hip and trendy where we can possibly get a reservation in the next 2 weeks.

Thanks!

What dishes do you like at Centolire? I've only been once and was less than impressed, though the service was good and it's a nice room.

So steakhouses are out, but that still leaves hundreds of possibilities. Therefore, it would be helpful to know what cuisines you and your husband prefer. Do you want something casual or fancy? Also, give us a per person budget, and tell us if that figure includes drinks, tax & tip.
