Needle in a Haystack
Last year I ate in a great mexican place down town and I can't remember the name or address. I know that is like finding a needle in a haystack, but it was so good I was really hoping that someone might recognize the place.
Okay, so from the outside it kind of looks like a hole in the wall but it was actually kind of fancy, I remember the food was kind of expensive. It's down town and the area was definitely very industrial
I know that this is such a long shot and I will be shocked if someone knows what i am talking about based on my incredibly vague and non-helpful description :) but I have heard other people talk about it so I am keeping my fingers crossed!
Was it La Serenata de Garibaldi in East Los Angeles? I'm not sure it qualifies as looking like a hole in the wall, but it is nice inside and is definitely in an industrial area. Parking is on the street. It specializes in seafood.
Here is a link (go to ones for the Los Angeles branch): http://www.laserenataonline.com/
It does sound like La Serenata, which also has a small guarded parking lot in the back, off the alley.
When I had a similar problem finding a restaurant last year, I scrutinized Google satellite photos until I was certain of the exact block, which I then verified with a quick trip.
