Expense-account dining near Camarillo, CA

Traveling to Camarillo next week on business - are there any good dining options in the area? I'm not very familiar with the area so any assistance is appreciated.

Without a doubt the best and nicest restuarant in the area is The Secret Garden in Moorpark. It's a beautiful French place in a restored old home with a very nice garden in back. The service and food is pleasnt and friendly and is the usual go to place for special dinners for my family in the area. Besides there arent a lot of other choices for nice restaurants! I checked the current menu and there isnt anything I'm familar with so I cant make any specific recomendations but I've generally been happy with all the meals I've had there. It's off the 23/118 so its just a slight detour on your way between Camarillo and Burbank, but you can just stay on the 118 to the 5 to go to burbank.

Thanks for the tip - so many new communities in this part of the world have not developed in depth dining experiences, but the money is there so this looks like it is heading the right direction: http://www.thesecretgardenrestaurant....

Looks like a pretty safe (but mildly interesting) menu to me, but I doubt my dining companions w/unadventurous palates will disagree.

This belongs on the LA Board where we have many helpful posts regarding Ventura, Oxnard and Camarillo areas.

California Grill is pretty good. The owners have recently opened another place called Safire, but I wasn't as impressed there. Up on Santa Rosa Road is an Aloha Steakhouse that I like. If you've got a serious expense account, I hear good things about Tierra Sur at the Herzog winery in Oxnard, but I haven't been there yet (though it's practically next door to where I work). Also, there's a restaurant at Sterling Hills Country Club that's open to the public that can be good for business meals, but call first to make sure the place isn't completely reserved. For Chinese, Peking Inn on Daily. For Italian, I'd agree with the person that posted about Ottavios, though the last time I was there I wasn't as impressed. Hope this helps.

If you're willing to drive a little, try Saddle Peak Lodge in Calabassas.

How about some good lunch places? We'll be coming from Burbank and will have a few hours to burn for lunch.

Check out Octavio's in Old Camarillo.

I find the food to be good and tasty, not spectacular but old school Italian.
