A computer-challenged friend emailed ...
Had a "memorable" dinner yesterday @ Frankie's Bohemian on Dividisidero. YUK!!! If I knew how to access Chowhound, I could write a book, the ending of which would be a happy one: I got out of there alive!!! SPOILED shrimp, for starters!!! The only good thing I can say is THANK GOD for the Guinness(sp?)!!!
He is going to be in that area near Mt Zion a few more times. Any place better to sit down and get a bite around lunchtime.

re: Robert Lauriston
Thanks. That's too far a walk given the circumstances. I was hoping for something not too much further than Frankies. He's been going to some bad deli and I unfortunately steered him to Frankies. I'd like to make ammends. There's some joint on the corner of Calif & Div that I'm not sure of but that would be the outer limit. Seems like there are a few more places on Divisidaro, I'm just not sure if they are any good or not.
I've heard good things about King of Falafil, on Divis/Pine, though I've never been there myself.
Don't have a rec for you, but I was driving on Divis today and noticed a place called Cool Island Cafe across the street from Zion. Looked like a sandwich spot, and had noodles and samosas among many things listed on the marquee. Anyone tried it?

Za Zang Korean Noodle is two blocks away.

I would try Eliza's on California and Broderick. They have inexpensive lunch specials. Service is very efficient.
