Help me find a place to have a party for a wedding

Hi NYers, I'm looking for a nice restaurant to have a party for about 65-75 people, preferably downtown, E or W Village or Chelsea. It can' t be ridiculously expensive, and it should be able to hold a small band as well. (musicians wedding, lots of jamming going on...) Any ideas?

Thanks much.

I don't know if there is room for a band, but I got married at Il Buco and it was amazing! Great food, great atmosphere, and excellent service. We took over the restaurant and I think it held up to 90 people. Do a search for their website - I think they have information about private parties on it.

Puck building with catering will be expensive.

how about nolita house? depends how laid back you want, but i'd bet they could do a nice job, and have overheard weddings being planend there... guess it depends on how nice & upscale food you are going for. they do a live music/bluegrass brunch every weekend, so there's got to be room for that.
it's small, but prob. right for that size crowd. i threw a co. holiday cocktail party there, and it went very smoothly. the owner, marc, is involved with private funcitons and very responsive, if that is helpful!
just a thought, and right near the puck building if you check that out too.

I was going to mention the Puck Building before I realized that you asked about restaurants. You might still want to check it out. I believe it has its own catering service. It should meet your needs, but I don't know about the costs involved.
