Authentic Chinese - Northern Jersey?[moved from Midatlantic board]

Does anyone have any recommendations for some good Chinese food that would be considered authentic? So far I've visited Petite Soo Chow for weekend brunch and found it to be comparable to food found in Queens.

I don't want to have to trek all the way to the Edison or New Brunswick area. Any ideas?

Thanks!

try hunan cottage on rte.46 E. in fairfield. you have to ask for the chinese menu as they give a pedestrian menu to caucasians. if you need assisatnce, flag down one of the 2 women hostesses (owners, i believe) for help. been going there regularly for several years & haven't had anything bad and a lot celestial.

Chengdu 1 on Rt. 23 in Cedar Grove (in the Kings shopping ctr but over next to the movie theater) is the most authentic Sichuan I've had in NJ, and the food is just wonderful! No ambiance to speak of, very reasonable prices, and it's BYO--you should also BYO large group so you can try more! :-)
Note: no connection to Chengdu 46.

I second this recommendation wholeheartedly. Chengdu 1 is fantastic! I've been there three times. Each time it seems to get better. Recently we had a delicious spicy lamb dish (I don't usually like lamb but this was great) and an awesome crunchy fish dish.

In fact, I traveled to Sichuan Province in 2007, where the food was amazing, and the food at Chengdu 1 is fairly comparable, which is a very large compliment indeed. In fact, in terms of the atmosphere and friendliness, Chengdu 1 far surpasses most places I went in Sichuan Province: At Chengdu 1, you're not drowning in giant clouds of the most vile cigarette smoke imaginable, and your throat isn't sore from the pollution, and you don't have to worry that the restaurant has been torn down to make way for a hideous shiny new shopping mall. And the bathroom is clean and properly maintained (try finding THAT in China).

I have not had a chance to go to the much-vaunted Spicy & Tasty or Little Pepper in Flushing, Queens, but I wonder if they could possibly be better than Chengdu 1, which is much more convenient to my location. I rarely get out to Queens and when I do, I usually end up at Sripraphai.
