Where to eat near the Paradise?

hsquare2southend Sep 11, 2007 12:03 PM

Going to see a show on Monday and need ideas for dinner before or after. I'm not really sure where the Paradise is, so that's part of the problem!

There's plenty of Allston choices if you're willing to walk 10-15 minutes.

Depending on what type of meal you are looking for there are a couple different places. T Anthonys has great food for the price and time. Pizza is delicious so are their wraps. If you are looking for ok food comparable to what you would get at a chain like Fridays are Applebees then you can try Sunset- the Cantina, not the orignally (which is actually only a couple of blocks up the way). If you are looking for strictly pub food then you can pop into T's Pub which is right next to Paradise (same family owns T Anthonys which is just a block away). I would stay far away from all the chinese places that were recommended on your post because they have all from one time or another been shut down for health code violations. If you want a nice sit down dinner then I would recommend Brown Sugar, they have the best thai. Just keep in mind that Paradise is located right on Commonwealth Ave along with BU so anything around there is going to be collegish.

I've never had a good or enjoyable meal at Victoria. I much prefer Quan's Kitchen on the opposite side of Comm. Ave., although it's not as good as it used to be. A hole in the wall, though - more a place for a quick bite than a Dinner Out.

Brown Sugar is great, went there before a show and was just full enough that I didn't feel hungry or feel like I was in a food coma.

The paradise is at 969 Comm Ave - near BU.

I like to stop at Ken's Ramen in the Super 88 pre-show, or you could check out their other food stalls, including a pretty good bahn-mi, I've heard.

Right nearby I'm not excited by any of the options, though Sunset Grille & Tap has respectable bar food and a crazy number of beers on tap (across from Agganis arena).

That is the Cantina. I agree, food isn't great but lots of good beers. I'd get early pizza at T. Anthony's then head to Sunset for beers. Also hear the burger at the Lounge is good. Isn't a new burger place by there too?
