Upscale dining in Queens/Brooklyn

Where would be a good place to go for a special birthday diner, maybe lobster? Somewhere nice, not too pricey would be even better.

  1. Not sure about lobster on the menu...but one of the nicer, modern restaurants in Queens is DB Wine Bar in Forest Hills on Metropolitan Ave. Dinner for two runs about $75-90 all in. I don't think they have lobster on the menu though.

For Brooklyn, my picks would be Saul or Chestnut. I like the Grocery too though I think recently it's getting more mixed reviews. All are in Carroll Gardens.

      You stole my recs! ;)

I lived off Smith St. in Carroll Gardens for a long time and I second the vote for Chestnut - it was my absolute favorite place on that block and always delivered outstanding food. Earlier this year,it was noted by Michelin as an outstanding restaurant in Brooklyn.

Grocery is good, though overrated, and, from what I hear, not quite what it used to be. Don't buy the hype! ;)

Saul is supposedly great, but I've never eaten there because they have limited vegetarian options. However, it got a Michelin star and all my friends in the neighborhood absolutely love it.
