Apple-Cranberry Cake for Rosh Hashanah?
I'm supposed to bring an apple dessert of some sort to my sister's house for dinner on Thursday. For some reason, I can't seem to find something to make. I was thinking maybe some type or cake with apples and cranberries (or apples and another type of fruit?), but I haven't found any recipe out there that excites me.
I don't want to bring something that needs to be served warm, and I'd prefer to make something on Wednesday evening for Thursday's dinner.
I came across this Apple Cranberry Crumb Pie, which sounds good, but I'm not convinced yet.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

The original Moosewood restaurant cookbook has a fantastic cranapple walnut cake which I first read about on chowhound.
Here's a link to a version someone has modified - the original has 2 eggs and 1/2 c walnuts. I cannot describe to you how good it is.

I posted something about what else goes with apples for an apple crisp, and posters suggested raspberries, cranberries, blackberries, and rhubarb.
I think it's a GREAT idea to pair something with the apples especially since the holiday is early in the fall when there are many fruits available.›3 Replies-

re: valerie
We use this recipe and it is wonderful. We don't use apple jelly though.
