Le Hangar vs Benoit

I have reservations at Benoit for a Sunday night. I am thinking Le Hangar instead. We need an a la carte menu. Any comparisons between the two would be appreciated.

We are not into "fussy" although adored our meal at French Laundry. This is a three week trip to France so we do not wish to break the bank.

  1. Since Benoit will easily cost you double the bill at Le Hangar, I think you have answered your own question.

Do you know if Le Hangar is open on Sundays? Is it a la carte or set menu?

Closed Sundays, no credit cards and no charge for the ample secondhand smoke. This not a "destination" bistrot, in my opinion. But others differ; go figure.

    2. Yes, the two are totally different. Hangar is simple, small room, no decor, straightforward pleasant food and useful for being right next to Pompidou. A la carte. Benoit has classic decor, is famous, traditional and quite expensive.

....and very good. Always eaten very well at Benoit.

      2. Do not know Le Hanger, but ate at Benoit last October after Ducasse took over. Was across from my apt and used to be great cassoulet place, now for me ' fussified'. Not terribly expensive, cost 150€ for two with one bottle/ wine and two water. Pretty place, adequate service, but think you can do much better.
