La Pergola?

Anyone tried La Pergola on Ventura? Is it worth visiting? I drive by it all the time and I heard that the chef grows most of the vegetables that they serve...

Because it's in my neighborhood, I have tried it several times over the years. I've always left disappointed. I think it's terribly overpriced and the menu is very dated Italian. Yes, the chef grows vegetables in the lot across the street.

I would agree. The food is fine but the noise can be overwhleming and the seating very cramped.

It is not worth visiting. Yes, Tino does grow the veggies nearby, but everything goes downhill from there, especially his personality.
In truth, Italian is so similar throughout Sherman Oaks, yet not one place stands out as being anything beyond however you might describe La Pergola.
The best bet to me is Pomodoro in the La Reina center, whose pretensions are zero, yet whose food is above most every place you could name or walk to from there.

Hmm, that's too bad - but thanks for the info, I guess I'll skip it for now.
