Went early Saturday night. Sat outside next to noisy State Street. If you like fried seafood, you'll love this place. Huge portions, etc. I had the combo plate with onion rings instead of fries, so I could try everything. Six huge fried shrimp, scallops, pile of fried clam strips, fish. I enjoyed the scallops the best--cooked perfectly. My mother had their crabcakes with a lobster sauce of some sort on the side that had an entire lobster claw in it. She said they were pretty good--not a lot of bread filling. Also sells fried whole-belly clams. My favorite part of the meal was the artichoke francais app that was incredible. battered and fried marinated (I think) artichoke hearts served with a francais sauce--I wanted to lick the plate as the chef's sauce was so delicious. My only wish was that they just served the fried artichokes on top ofthe sauce instead of tossed in the sauce that made them a bit soggy, but still delicious. It is good to have a seafood place in New Haven, so you don't have to drive to Branford to quench your fried-food craving. And glad it isn't another Italian place. Located next to Cafe Goodfella's next to the Trumbull Street exit overpass. I would like to try one of their non-fried entrees next time we go--nice menu. I guess the owner was a caterer at some point--does anyone know what place (seems very Italian)? Looks like he is opening a catering room next door to the back of the restaurant.
