we're headed over to the laguna/newport bike path (on pch/beach) and will probably get hungry. we'll definitely visit crystal cove.

is there anything particularly delicious along that little trail?

Which little trail? There's several bike paths that don't interconnect in Newport / Laguna unless you ride on open roads. Are you talking about the short one at Crystal Cove State Beach?

Where are you starting, and which way are you heading? Major street intersections would help orient the folks here who don't use the bike trails at all.

Las Brisas outside is great. In Laguna beach.

I'm just going to assume you're looking for really good, but casual for breakfast, brunch or lunch, since you'll be biking.

Around Crystal Cove, Beachcomber has the best location. In Crystal Cove State Park where the cottages are. Ridiculous wait times on the weekends, though.
The shopping center at Crystal Cove has mostly high end restaurants, but Pacific Whey Cafe has pretty good breakfasts & lunches. Some of my friends LOVE Z Pizza, and some don't. I think it's okay.

While Las Brisas definitely has a killer view, it may be a little fancy for what you're looking for. I would never think to go in there in biking clothes, let alone if I'm sweaty. It's more of a date restaurant. It's also in the heart of Laguna Beach, which may be nowhere near the bike path you'll be on. But, if you are going to be in that area, The Cottage and Madison Square are both pretty popular for breakfast/lunch and casual.

and there's always Ruby's overlooking Crystal Cove. It's the old Shake Inn & they'll do a date shake for you upon special request.

Ditto to Pacific Whey. Don't know if the sweaty factor will be an issue, but I've seen that Sage on the Coast (same plaza) serves up brunch at 11am on Sundays and lunch starts at 11:30 every other day. They should have outdoor seating.....I think?

They do - it's a little more upscale than biking clothes, though. It's a covered patio - more of a room, than sidewalk patio seating, which would be fine. Or, that could be just me :)

Found a new gelato store in Laguna on Broadway near PCH. Was very tasty. might of been the best I've had so far. I think it was called Tutto
