Crock Pot Beef Stew Recipe
Looking for a recipe to feed a crowd tomorrow after the Jags game and was thinking something in a slow cooker or crock pot would be easiest. Does anyone have a killer favorite recipe??

How many in a crowd? This recipe serves 6-8...but I'm sure you could double.
2 lbs beef cubes
2 Tbsp flour
1 bay leaf
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
4 cups beef stock
1/2 cup red wine
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
4 carrots, peeled and sliced
2 celery stalks, sliced
1-2 lbs (your choice) red potatoes, peels still on, quartered
1 onion, diced (or can use about a dozen pearl onions, peeled)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 Tbsp fresh thyme
Brown beef cubes in hot pan with a little oil (optional, but adds flavor). Add beef, flour, salt and pepper to the crock pot, toss to combine. Add the rest of the ingredients, cover and cook on low for 8 hours. Turn up to high, and simmer for a bit until liquid thickens (if it still isn't thick enough for you, you can add a cornstarch slurry).
Taste for seasoning and serve. Watch out for the bay leaf!
Let me add that another slow-cooker recipe for a crowd is Italian BBQ. I have no idea how to make it, but I know it's ground beef in a spicy-sweet tomato sauce with green peppers. Similar to a sloppy joe, and you serve it on split rolls. I'm not even sure if Italian BBQ is the right term for it, but it's what we always called it!

looks like a winner to me and simple to prepare as well - much appreciated

I like to replace some of the broth w/dark beer! http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/foo...
and i usually flour the beef before browning it to add thickness
