Where can I find mini hamburger buns?

I want to serve mini hamburgers as an appetizer and would like to know where I can find mini hamburger buns in San Francisco.

I'm looking for buns that are maybe three inches across. Whole wheat would be ideal, but I'll take what I can get.

We were looking for mini-hamburger buns that look like real hamburger buns about 1 1/2 to 2 inches across. Panorama Bakery in SF 415 522-5500 has "glazed mini hamburger buns" and "potato herb rolls with a sliced potato on the top". Both would work well.

Mollie Stone's (the former Tower Market) has a nice selection of small buns and dinner rolls that would be perfect for mini burgers. I just picked up some white hot dog buns there that are actually made with lard. I couldn't believe it. I'm very happy.

I just did a party where we served sliders. I did my shopping at Albertson's and they have soft french rolls (both white and wheat) that absolutely did the trick. I did have to slice them myself. The King's Hawaiian rolls (wheat) were too sweet for my taste, but the french rolls (bulk, sell them 30/per bag) were perfect.

Kings Hawaiian makes a mini burger sized sweet roll.

Lunardis Bakery makes mini burger sized egg rolls.

You might try calling restaurants that do mini-burgers and ask where they get their buns. I'm tired so the only 2 that spring to mind are RNM and Lime.

If worse comes to worse, you could always get frozen white castles, feed the stuffing to your dog (if you seriously dislike him) and use the buns ;)

On Fridays the Noe Valley Bakery on 24th St. has challah dinner rolls that might suit your purpose. They are about the size you're looking for; you would only need to slice them in half.

Look at boudin bakery they have the little sour dinner rolls that i have seen people use for little slider burgers..... Italian French is a little bakery in north beach that may have something or may be able to make you what you want..... Good luck
