Friendly Thai Buffet Queen W.

Our office voted to head over to the re-opening of The Friendly Thai on Queen - re-opened as a buffet.

I am a big advocate of giving a new resto time to figure things out but I don't have a lot of patience for the veterans. I suppose it may be good in a month or two, but today it was completely gross!

Tasteless, oily, mostly meatless, over cooked. The place is arranged like the original cafeteria must have been in 1842 before they figured out how to arrange tables for comfort and flow. It is a pathetic set up with lousy food.

  1. I went to the old location ONCE, lousy food and a shockingly rude waitress, not worth my pennies...

are they associated with the one on Eglinton West of Bathurst? I haven't been there in a few years, but when I lived in the hood, I would go for takeout and the food was definitely edible.

Sorry, I rarely if ever make it out there, I do not know if they are connected..........anyone? anyone?

I'm just happy that a new Thai place has opened up in the city. It's about time. I swear sometimes you can walk for literally minutes and not see one.

Every time I've been to one of these (Queen W and Yonge both a couple times), the waitresses basically ignored me (even when I arrived and was waiting for seating). When they finally did pay attention to me, they always acted like they were doing me a HUGE favour in doing so.

I always found the food to be mostly edible and often bordering on tasty, even though they really cheap out on the cuts of meat and overcook them frightfully. Sorry to hear they went buffet; is this just a lunch thing or is it all buffet all the time?
