Tout Va Bien or Becco?

Going to dinner Friday night before heading to Caroline's. I haven't been to either restaurant, looking for something low-key, good food and fun atmosphere. Which one do you recommend?

Am I the lone voice crying "Tout va Bien" in the wilderness? The theater district used to be blanketed with affordable, reliable, French places like this one. Now, along with Chez Napoleon, it's a dying breed. And we are the poorer for it.

No, I'll add my thin, reedy voice. I like Tout va Bien a lot, unpretentious, reasonable, dependably good and the waiters are a rip. Bite for bite the food is better than that at Becco, which is my least favorite of the Batali/Bastianich restaurants by a furlong. Better atmosphere, too.

Like both, but Becco is better. Chez Napoleon is "closed for Renovations" by the way.

The Becco trio of pasta option is always great, and is really affordable.

I'd say Becco -- it's good food (not great) at very reasonable prices. The wine list is more than reasonably priced. Pretheatre time the restaurant can be very loud and hopping -- if this is what you are looking for, then you'll be pleased (quiet or intimate would not describe Becco at all).

Becco - definately worth the trip to it - great pasta - great food.

BECCO...Terrific value...Attentive service and fun...Tout Va Bien is a bit long in the TOUT these days.....
