Great food in Okinawa

Hi everyone,

I'm visiting some friends in Okinawa this week and am looking for great food/restaurant recommendations. My friends aren't really foodies, so they haven't been too helpful when it comes to dinner locations. I'm American and would love to experience as much "true" Japanese/Okinawan cuisine as possible.

You mean like taco rice and spam musubi? :-)

Ugh... no. Neither were too too bad, but I'm thinking more along the lines of great seafood, pork, or other local specialties. It was our Coco Curry last night that inspired this post.

My recommendations would be Okinawa soba, goya champuru (great if you like bitter melon), and any kind of roast pork. Great with a side of Orion and even a bit of awamori.

There's a spot called Tacos-ya in Naha that gave me my Mexican fix after 6 months.
