Vegas Local Neighborhood Diners/Cafes?
Hello,
Looking for something a little different in Vegas...anyone know of any great little neighborhood places, like diners or cafes, where the locals hang out, the food is great and the staff and "regulars" all know each other? Thanks for any tips!

The first place to pop into my mind is Rocco's New York Italian Deli. It conjures up a very specific place -- an Italian "gourmet" deli on Long Island. Caring, friendly service, a wide array of Italian goods, and tons of New York Italians as customers (free ambiance). Decent pizza, terrific sandwiches, and plenty of raw material for serious meals. Alas, no tables, though.

Weiss' deli, green valley, Sunset and Green Valley Parkway; huge portions of traditional deli food and nice people working there. Open for b, l and early dinner (I believe they close at 7.30 or so) Very good chicken noodle soup and corned beef, and other items are also very tasty

Grape Street Cafe. Buffalo & Lake Mead. The food is good, the atmosphere is killer, and the wine selection is eclectic. Love me some GSC.

Visited Egg Works, a breakfast and lunch place, over the Labor Day weekend. It was jampacked on Sunday early afternoon. Since it's about 6 miles west of the Strip, I'd say most of the visitors were locals, not tourists. Their sister restaurant, the Egg & I, is a bit closer to the Strip.
