Winston Churchill and the QEW Dinner Suggestions?

Hi all,

I have a friend who's in town next week on business. We're meeting for dinner on Tuesday night near his hotel at WC and the QEW. I'm looking for restaurant suggestions for the area.

What have you got for me, hounds?

Michaels Backdoor - Clarkson Rd and Lakeshore. Been around forever, a pretty good local spot for Italian. Probably not as good as it was 15 years ago, but service is still good and ambiance is good for catching up.

It's definitely an option, since we've got a vehicle. Anything particular you can recommend?

My new favourite restaurant in this area is in Clarkson-- Solstice Italian Restaurant. It's on Lakeshore just east of Southdown (on north side between Homesense mall and Tim Hortons)
I also really like Ten at Highway 10 and Lakeshore but Solstice has unique take on Italian food. All good made to order food and very hip and sleek inside.

Jam Asian Kitchen Martini & Wine Bar has locations in both. Fun martinis and dim sum/tapas style menu-depending on the day it has good people watching. Give me an idea of what kind of food/atmosphere you're looking for and I'll help steer you in the right direction

There is a Bombay Bhel at Winston Churchill and Dundas ( 2525 Hampshire Gate
Oakville, Ontario, L6H 6C8 ph. 905.829.1040). Not fancy, but the food is quite good. The service can be a bit slow.

Hopefully Trattoria Timmone can turn things around, because that AMC theatre plaza has been a complete and total revolving door of restaurants since it opened. There are so many failed restaurants (at least 10) that they all kind of blend together and I can't really think of any in particular. What about Wolfgang Puck's? Is that still open? The only places that I'm sure have been open since the beginning are Alice Fazooli's and the Irish pub directly across from the theatre.

Trattoria Timmone is in the old Wolfgang Puck space..I agree nothing survives here! But it's worth checking out..

I'm not disappointed to hear that Wolfgang Puck's closed. It had to be one of the worst dinners I've ever had in Mississauga. The food was over=priced and tasteless. He may be a celebrity chef but this restaurant in his chain was completely dull and boring. Not surprised it closed. Mediocre food at high prices.

right in the AMC theatre plaza at QEW and Winston Churchill has Trattoria Timmone..it just moved in there from downtown Oakville and I've had a wonderful dinner there in a great atmosphere...a new place just opened in the same complex called Dirty Martini..I haven't checked it out yet, but the menu looks like tapas and cocktails type of place
