Good and Romantic East Side

Hi Chows

I am looking for a good place for my Anniversary this weekend. We would like to find a place with creative dishes, quiet atmosphere and a nice wine list. Bistro K before it was sold would have been perfect but alas it has taken a steep delcine. Looking for something any place between Silverlake to Pasadena. Thanks!

I've heard good things about Cliff's Edge in Silver Lake (Edgecliffe & Sunset).

Great atmosphere but subpar food. DO NOT order the risotto...It was like a bowl of salt.

The Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton, Huntington, might work.

Very good and definitely not standard hotel stuff.

But very expensive - plan on $80 per person - more (maybe much more) if you're into wines. Clearly the best attempt at great traditional food in the Pasadena area, but a far remove from the cutting edge of Bistro K. Service can be great but can be less than great. If money is no object this is your place. Better value plays are Maddeleine's, Bistro 45 (note dissentions), and Maison Akira.

I would proceed with caution on Maison Akira.

In recent times, Chef Akira has either lost interest in the place or the place has lost interest in its customers.
