They finally stopped airing Molto Mario

Dio di Romanese Sep 2, 2007 11:40 PM

Its true not only did they cancel my favorite cooking show and only aired it once a week, but they replaced its time slot with "Guy's Big Bite". This is really depressing to me

I've been watching the show there as well, but I do believe they're reruns. His new venture is "Magic, Martinis and Mario." http://www.magicmartinismario.com/

I agree! I can't imagine Mario a la Tony Robins. Although, I read that he studied Spanish theatre at Rutgers and he is just a tad flamboyant. ; )

I love the Molto Mario reruns (didn't watch the show first time out)
According to the FN website, they're still on - Sept 10 is next scheduled

They killed it when it became a Food Network show....what they actually did in terms of airing it, I'm not sure. It seemed to really lose its focus versus what I'd seen from her shows prior to the Food Network getting her on their channel.

I lament the loss of Mario as well...I always felt he was doing the best food on the regular Food Network shows.

Nigella Lawson's show turned out to be mostly repeats taken from the Bravo and Style networks....very disappointing. It's shown early Sunday mornings and not repeated. She is however premiering a new show in the UK so I would think it will eventually be shown in the states.

Guy's Big Bite, in word, Bites. What the hell is wrong with those pencil necks at FN.

Mario, the last of the real Chef's on the network.

I noticed today that Molto Mario is being aired on the Fine Living channel - I'm assuming they are reruns.

Fine Living is airing reruns of several old FN shows. Both channels are owned by the same company (Scripps Networks).

Yes. I believe I read somewhere that he and Gwyneth Paltrow are doing a show for PBS (odd combination, but that's what I've heard). Format of the show will be the 2 of them travelling around Spain and exploring Spanish cuisine.

Except she said she still doesn't eat pork or beef, so she "won't be "cooking them".

It's actually worse - the network has dropped him period. Not even going to be on Iron Chef anymore:

It's sad. Mario was one of the few left who would actually teach while cooking and was genuinely interested in new things. Everyone else is such a "personality" and I fear that's the direction FN keeps wanting to head in...no more of the actual chefs, just chipper personalities that will encourage us to be mediocre...

My favorite go-to Mario recipe has always been his Sicilian chicken - spicy, tender, fantastic!

I wonder if FN is sensitive to hate mail? Killing off Mario is idiotic!
