Spumoni Sherman Oaks

tubbytoast Sep 1, 2007 10:08 PM

My hubby and I love Spumoni - it reminds us of the (long gone) Gold Spike in San Francisco. Excellent food, friendly service, and not expensive! The Gnocchi is amazing. If anyone has found a better Italian restaurant in this part of the Valley, let me know, and in the meantime, we're looking forward to becoming "regulars" here.

If you haven't tried the calamari appetizer you should do it next time you go -- fantastic.

I have eaten at most the nearby Italian places (live in Sherman Oaks)
and while I have favorite dishes at others: Maria's (pizza bianchi), Rosti's
(vongole & gnocchi), Mazzarino's (garlic bread), etc. there none as
good at such a reasonable price.

Mazzarino's (on Riverside, right?) has been closed for awhile due to a kitchen fire. The sign on the door says they'll be "reopening soon" but I'd give 'em a call before heading in that direction.
