Best Italian on the Upper East?
We live in the East 70's. Looking for recommendations for good Italian - with a nice atmosphere for casual meals out. Thanks!
Spigolo is also lovely - only been once, but had a memorable meal - not cheap, but reasonable for the quality. Centolire is quite near to me and went once for lunch - food was pretty well executed, but over priced I thought. I also went to Coco Pazzo recently (same owner as Centolire) and posted a review. It's more formal though.

Elio's- spectacular. veal to die for. fantastic pastas- many famous people eat there- we've seen Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft, Barbara Walters, Martha Stewart, etc. but very excellent- always crowded though- go early... enjoy fb
Spigolo of course!! You need to call for reservations 212-744-1100. Bar and outdoor seating is first come first served-no reservations for them-but do not take my seat-1st on on right on bar!!!
