Recently visited PH (slice of cheese pizza with spinach) and DJ (bo-bo platter) for the first time, and then rounded the evening out at Veggie House (mini-7th Heaven salad and rice rolls). Pizza slice was decent, but nothing to write home to Mom about... was told that the customized pizzas are higher in quality, since they are made-to-order. It wouldn't be hard to persuade me to make a return visit. At Desert Jade, I enjoyed the egg rolls best (subbed another egg roll for the fried shrimp- allergy), although the bbq rib was tasty. Finally, both choices at Vegetarian House were satisfactory. I'd order the rice rolls (crunchy veggies and tofu wrapped in greens and rice paper, not fried) again sans rice wrap. A whole-portioned Seventh Heaven salad would certainly make a satisfying meal on its own.

Tonight (Friday, 8/31), two friends and I met at Amano Pizza Bistro. We shared the black mission fig, goat cheese, walnut with raspberry vinaigrette salad. I would have been thoroughly satisfied with a whole portion of this for dinner, but why would I skip the pizzas?? We each ordered a pie: Meatlover ordered the Italian sausage and fontina, the Veggie-head ordered the spinach, sun-dried tomato, and queso fresca, and I ordered the pesto, parmesan, and pine nut. The veggie pies blew the meat selection out of the oven!! I definitely did not appreciate the doughier crust of the meat version, and frankly, it lacked the complex flavors the veggie pies had. Meatlover evidently agreed, as we almost had to fight over the remaining slices of Veggie-head's pie (he's leaving for a trip north so wasn't planning on taking leftovers home).

Forget about the delectable-sounding desserts- the pizzas were thoroughly satiating.

Wished I'd tried the salad special: Salmon gravlox on a bed of greens and endive with lavender and fennel, grape tomatoes and capers with a lavender cream dressing- are you salivating yet?
