Where can I buy the best carrot cake in the city? Is the Two Little Red Hens' one amazing?

I've only had Two Little Red Hens' carrot cake cupcake, but if that's any indication, they make an outstanding carrot cake

if you want wholesale-ish, try the carrot cake at Umanoff and Parsons; available at fairway I think, but I usually go right to the bakery on Greenwich street and Watts, in Tribeca. incredibly rich and moist, love their carrot cake (and their other stuff as well; tarts are a standout, the chocolate mud cake is too intense, but if you're into it, it's excellent).

My friend always buys the carrot cake from Fresh Direct and brings it to our picnics in the park. I'm not a huge carrot cake fan, but this one is really good and the icing is lovely without being overwhelming.

My wife bought this carrot cake on Friday. It was too dry for my taste, but the icing was good. I have to think there is better in Manhattan.

Does anyone know if Two Little Red Hen's carrot cake is better than BlackHound's?

Believe it or not, Murray's Cheese makes a great carrot cake.

Is Murray's Moisty with walnuts? Is it it better than Blackhound's or TLRH's?

Haven't had it from the other two bakeries, but Murray's is very moist and perfect. They also make an AMAZING lemon cake.

You want the best go to Carrot top bakery on upper Broadway around 165th st . cakes made on premise ... the owner buys her carrots from a certain place because she says certain parts of the country produce sweeter carrots 20yrs in busn. they should know and the frosting is great a little expensive but top in the city

Yes, yes, yes!!! I totally agree about Carrot Top. I bought one about 2 weeks ago to bring to a party and it was a huge hit. Amazing, and it traveled extremely well too. The regular size feeds 10-12 and is under $30. The cake is perfect and the frosting... mmmmmmm.

On the completely unexpected side, Hot and Crusty Bakery on Broadway in the high 80s does a great carrot cake, and probably cheaper than a lot of bakeries.
