recommendations for January

My sisters and I will be coming to celebrate my 30th...we will want to eat at least one "blow out" dinner (that doesn't mean $1000 a person...but we'd probably be able to swing $100-$200 per person) for my birthday...tend to like Italian, French, or Contemporary restaurants best, but want a place that has great service, isn't too stuffy, and a great wine list...we will probably stay in Manhattan...any suggestions?

EMP is very good for a celebration; the room is large and airy and well-decorated. Very classy.

I also like The Modern's Bar Room. What about Gramercy Tavern?

When are you coming and how many people will you be total, 3? And does your $200 include wine?

For example, Cru has a phenomenal wine list (so long that it's bound), but dinner there can run quite steep, and the atmosphere is a bit stuffy.

You might want to google the menus at Gotham Bar and Grill, Vice Versa and David Burke & Donatella.
That might be a better way to finalize your choice.
