You know, this may be one of the most difficult inquiries I've ever seen posted here.
Pie is so subjective. What one person finds perfect, another finds too sweet, not juicy enough, too gloppy, etc. I don't know if it will be of any help as they do not sell pie by the slice but if it's still run by the same Danish owners, Leske's Bakery on 5th Ave and about 77th St in Bay Ridge, used to make pretty good fruit pies. I know they had apple and blueberry, I'm not sure about peach. If Jean Danet on 5th and 76th makes them, they should be very good, and since they are a cafe as well, you might be able to get a slice.
Here are the links. If you are successful would you kindly post for the rest of us? Thanks !

Im (historically) a huge pie lover but Im coming close to giving up on pie made by anybody other than reliable family/friends. Farmer's market pies are usually mediocre, local bakeries in Brooklyn dont know from pie crust, its always awful. Having said that, the huge lattice-crusted fruit pies at Costco are not bad - including, when you can find it, the peach, and they are an amazing bargain..(the caramel crumble apple is not nearly as good as the double crust)

Jen.
If ever I am in a position where I need to recc, a Food/Restaurant Reviewer, I'm definitely recc you!. Lol! You just seem to hit everything right on.. I agree that the pies at Costco are,( not unlike their B-B-Q chickens), pretty decent, especially (as you pointed out) when you consider the very reasonable cost. That having been said, last night I had very, very delicious, well crusted plum pie from an Amish bakery stand ... Unfortunately, it was from a Farmer's Mkt in Allentown PA.
That doesn't do the OP much good. :-} It just reminded me that the making of good fruit pie is becoming a lost art here in the city.
