Food delivery for bereaved friend in Fresno
A dear friend of mine just lost her mother a couple of days ago. Needless to say, she's in shock and grief. And as she just moved to Fresno recently, she's also in the process of settling in, all the while taking care of her husband and two little boys. I'm sure she'll be inundated with flowers and such so I'd like to take a different approach. Can you please recommend restaurants/specialty shops that might deliver food or any yummy treats?
I am not familiar with Fresno but from Googling, it appears that she's near N. 1st Street and Shields Avenue. I looked up nearby restaurants and there appears to be a lot of chains. Any recommendations or ideas you send my way would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much in advance!
Something I've done in the past for family and friends is to pick up a dozen pre-baked chicken pot pies and/or a dozen beerocks (shredded or ground beef) for them to freeze then nuke as needed. Pies take about 5 min, beerocks @ 90 sec each, when done individually.
While they do not have a delivery service, call and ask to speak to the owner (sorry, I've forgotten his name) who is a really nice guy, since it sounds like delivery time would be flexible, I'd be surprised if he wouldn't accomodate your needs.

There are a couple of delivery services that I have heard about in the Fresno area but I have no personal experience with them. Both pick up from a variety of restaurants and then deliver the food for about $5/order.
Hopefully someone else might have some personal experience with these:
There isn't much delivery in Fresno, most of the restaurant expect you to do take out. Here are a few ideas/suggestions, let me know if this is the kind of thing you are looking for:
Bentley's: an upscale grocery store/deli with a prepared food counter, cheese counter, sushi counter, etc. They used to do delivery, but I couldn't find on their website if they still do that or not.
Sam's is a great Italian deli not far from your friend's house, I linked the catering menu, which is probably too big, but maybe you could get some of the salads, fresh bread, and entrees delivered. Sam and Angela are so nice, I am pretty sure they would work with you.
Precious Thyme: I haven't had anything from this place, but I have heard of them. They will deliver a week's worth of dinners to your door in freezer-type packs. They come with reheating instructions and they use fresh, quality ingredients. That might be really nice for your friend to have a whole week's worth of food in the freezer, and high quality food, not hot pockets. The prices seem reasonable, too.
That's what I have come up with so far, maybe others will think of something I haven't.
