New Warsaw Bakery in Greenpoint. They sell it at a few of the polish meat markets on Manhattan Ave. My neighbor as a kid owned that place and would leave bread on my door every day. It escaped my memory until I was walking down the street and saw a bag in the window. So, I walked in and bought a bag. Totally great.

Orwasher's at 308 E. 78th St. Get the rye bread off the big loaf at the counter (measure your desired quantity with hands) if possible as it's moister than the individual loaves, delicious as they are.

Agreed. I wouldn't even compare any place to Orwasher's for rye. It's the best and I wish I knew how they did it.
