Top Chef Season 2 Rehash

As many of you know, last night Bravo re-aired Season 2 plus the Season 1 vs Season 2 cookoff.

Watching the show, highlighted the point that Season 2 was very immature and very unprofessional. Even Sam, the favorite, was kind of whiny when Marcel didn't help him plate in the Santa Barbara Challenge. I actually missed that part the first time around. Also, one of the other contestants knocked over Marcel's Salmon. Accident or not?

Ilan did not deserve to win. During the hazing incident, you can hear Ilan egging Cliff on. Of course, Cliff got the axe and Ilan kept his mouth shut. During the cookoff, Ilan didn't even know how to cook duck since it's an atypical Spanish ingredient, or as some people have mentioned, Ilan didn't have a recipe to steal from his former employer.

Wow! I guess those guys on season 2 really got under my skin... lol.

At least Season 3, the chefs are more mature. A couple are probably psycho, but that's a different story.

Recently Dave Martin was seen in Manhattan waiting tables at Landmarc.

is that typical for a chef/cook to be waiting tables?

i agree season 2 was not high on the maturity or even cooking level, but it was at least an entertaining assortment of characters. Ilan shouldn't have won based on merit alone, true, but he played the game the way it was set up the best. Top Line Cook, not Top Chef.

That's sad. My boy from Long Beach! What happened?

Dave is a waiter? Well I'm sure he's great at it, because he has such a wonderfully addictive personality, but I would love to eat at a homey Dave Martin restaurant.

I agree that Season 2's contestants were too young and immature. Season one had the talent with Harold, Tiffany, Dave and Leanne (sorry if I spelled those wrong!). Now during Season 3 I'm just getting annoyed with the inconsistent judging.

Can you give some examples about the inconsistent judging in the current season? I can't think of anything off the top of my head.

Watching Season 2 for the first time, I was annoyed with Marcel, but I didn't find him any more obnoxious than Stephen from Season 1, or any more arrogant than Tiffany.

I don't know. I liked season two a lot, it took me awhile to get into Top Chef in the first season. With season 2, I was hooked from the beginning. I really liked Sam and Elia, and while yes I thought Ilan and Marcel were immature, they still made some good food. Not sure who I would have picked to win, but I don't think season 2 was a bust...

Watching it again I just can't understand why Ilan went to the final round instead of Sam. Makes no sense. Obviously Colicchio overruled the other judges there since Gail and Padma were practically crying. Maybe Ilan's food tasted better? But it is absurd that he won it all when all he seemed to be able to do was copy Spanish recipes from the restaurant he was working in (and let Elia do all the cooking). A Sam/Marcel battle would have been so much more interesting.
